APPLICATION PITCH GUIDELINES

Power Point

01. TEMPLATE

Applicant may chose any power point template they wish, or ask for our pre-made template with Instructions (Contact@NewEnglandBusiness.org)

02. LENGTH

Presentations should be between 4 and 6 slides/page. Maximum is 6 pages, including the title one. Out of courtesy to the Judges, be concise and to the point. Bullet-points or short paragraphs may be used.

03. FIRST/TITLE PAGE

Should include: 

Organization/Company Name, City, Website; Name or product or service (IF different from the company name, and Category in which you wish to compete.

04. INNOVATION (p. 2 to 4)

Describe your Innovation (as if the person reading knows nothing about it). Avoid technical or fancy terms, use simple, easy-to-understand language. What problems/challenges does it solve? What does it do that others don't? How is it different from the competition? Is it a "first" or an "improvement" over an existing solution? How does it revolutionize its market?  What are the benefits to the users? For non-profits, how does it serve its population? 

05. INNOVATION (p. 5 to 6)

Pictures, numbers, infographics are encouraged as story-telling techniques.  Is your product/service in the market? How has it been received?. What are your plans for the future? Will it keep on generating income to sustain it? If it has not launched yet what stage is it at: Concept? Market Research? Market Test? What are your future income generating plan? What are your plans for growth and scaling (if any)?

06.SUMMARY (p.5 or 6)

At the end of your pitch, summarize in a sentence or two, why your product/service should be voted in to the final stage of the competition.

Video

01. TYPE OF VIDEO

Any video is acceptable as long as it answers the questions below, and does not exceed 2 minutes in duration. It may be an existing promotional video amended to provide the extra information needed, or a new one produced with a smart phone or computer of the company representative talking about the innovation.

02. LENGTH

Videos should be 2-minutes maximum; if a longer one is provided, it will not be considered. If you need help keeping your video ​short and concise,

ask us (Contact@NewEnglandInnovation.org) to help you. We'll be happy to.

03. INTRODUCTION

State your Name, Organization/Company Name, City, Website. If the product name is different than the company name, make sure to state both. The information may be written on an easel, board, or background behind you, or on a piece of paper that you present while you talk, if you do not want to spend time with introduction (estimated total:15-20 seconds).

04. INNOVATION (at least 1 minute)

Describe your Innovation (as if the person watching your video knows nothing about it); use simple terms, avoid technical lingo.  What problems/challenges does it solve? What does it do that others don't? How is it different from the competition? Is it a "first" or an "improvement" over an existing solution? How does it revolutionize its market?  What are the benefits to the users? For non-profits, how does it serve its population?
